Many graduate students see online teaching as an inevitable part of their future academic world and have expressed great interest in training that will allow them to understand and exploit online teaching technologies. The Graduate School recently launched a strategic new initiative to prepare future faculty for online college teaching, in partnership with the Center for Instructional Technology (CIT). The Graduate School’s Bass Undergraduate Instructional Program, for PhD students, began offering fellowships for Bass Online Apprentices (Bass OAs) in Spring 2014. This presentation will highlight the program’s vision and goals, the CIT partnership, and include a student panel of Bass online apprentices, who will share their experiences and provide insights on the value the Bass program brings to their role as future faculty.
