Research Interests
Global Oncology and Cancer Health Equity
My research is focused on advancing equitable access to cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship care in low- and middle-income countries. I am particularly interested in understanding how health system structures, implementation strategies, and contextual factors influence cancer outcomes in resource-limited settings.
Implementation Science and De-escalation Strategies
I lead an ASCO–Conquer Cancer Young Investigator Award–funded study evaluating evidence-based treatment de-escalation in early breast cancer management in South Africa. This project aims to identify opportunities to reduce overtreatment while maintaining high-quality care, improving both patient outcomes and health system efficiency in resource-constrained environments. I am interested in continuing work around context-specific factors influencing the adoption of guideline-directed management in resource-limited settings.
Cancer Data Infrastructure and Precision Medicine
Building on this work, I am working towards developing a cancer registry and precision oncology framework in East Africa in collaboration. This initiative seeks to establish sustainable cancer data systems and molecular profiling capacity to enable data-driven, personalized cancer care across the region.
Survivorship and Disparities Research
My broader research portfolio includes studies examining second primary malignancies, survivorship risk prediction, disparities in palliative and supportive care delivery, and community engagement in cancer prevention and management. I am committed to integrating these efforts into a global cancer equity framework that connects population-level data with individualized, precision-based care.
