Sedation is administered for a wide variety of procedures and in multiple locations. Nurses are integral to the provision of safe and efficient sedation care and are involved in all aspects of the sedation continuum. This chapter presents information on nursing considerations during the following sedation phases: (1) pre-procedural, (2) intra-procedural, and (3) post-procedural.
