In this chapter, we provide an overview of the halide perovskite family, with several examples of low-dimensional perovskites and associated preparation methods. A wide range of synthetic techniques applied to halide perovskite compounds are described, and each has advantages and disadvantages. Thus, it is desirable to select the approach depending on what kind of perovskite is targeted, type of film/crystal required, and properties for measurement or application. The synthetic techniques described in this chapter have enabled an exceptional diversity of interesting science and applications to be explored.
