This chapter discusses a variety of common endocrine and metabolic challenges that occur in the perioperative period. Guidance on the perioperative management of several conditions is presented including diabetes, obesity, obstructive sleep apnea, and thyroid disease. Detailed discussions of perioperative corticosteroid use and electrolyte disturbances are also presented.
