In 2014, Humana Inc., a health insurance provider, announced an enterprise goal of improving the health of the communities it served by 20 % by 2020. It began the initiative in an effort to make healthcare “easier” for individuals, make a complicated and fragmented healthcare system simpler to navigate, and engage individuals in the management of their own health. In its 2015 Progress Report, Humana stated, “why do we put such emphasis on ‘making it easy’? Because as a society, we have made health hard.”
