Distal radius fractures are common. Plastic surgery trainees and practicing surgeons who encounter these patients should be familiar with the various treatment options. Although the volar locking plate has revolutionized treatment of these fractures, it is important to understand the anatomy, diagnosis, and contemporary management of specific fracture patterns that may require techniques beyond volar plating.
