Treatment considerations in patients with combined carotid and coronary artery disease
This chapter presents a comprehensive analysis of the complexities associated with managing patients with concurrent carotid and coronary artery diseases (CADs). It examines the current state of these overlapping conditions, provides a detailed review of existing guidelines, and evaluates the risks and benefits of various treatment approaches. The aim is to equip readers with a thorough understanding and practical guidance for clinical decision-making in patients with concomitant carotid and CAD. This chapter aims to elucidate the optimal sequencing for staged or synchronous revascularization in patients presenting with concomitant carotid artery stenosis and CAD. In addition, it will address treatment considerations for both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients with carotid stenosis requiring coronary intervention.
