Infective endocarditis is an uncommon illness associated with increased morbidity and mortality. The patient’s presentation can sometimes present diagnostic challenges. Management of patients with infective endocarditis includes antimicrobial therapy and, often, valve surgery. Timing of and indications for surgery can be challenging, so a multispecialty team with expertise in the care of patients with infective endocarditis is advisable.
