A Collaborative Podcasting Project to Address Nurse Practitioner Educator Shortages
Acute care pediatric nurse practitioner (PNP-AC) faculty face educator shortages and competing clinical and academic demands. The purpose of this project was to use podcasting as a collaborative solution to enhance education and professional development. Twenty-three faculty from 19 institutions created and peer-reviewed scripts for an 11-episode podcast series. A postproduction survey of collaborators (78% response rate) revealed perceived benefits including increased scholarly output, extended networks through national collaboration, and improved student access to high-quality, relevant, and practical content. Podcasting offers a feasible strategy to modernize PNP-AC education, reduce workload, and utilize clinical expertise for broader impact.
