The structure of desmosdumotin C (1), a novel compound isolated from the roots of Desmos dumosus, has been established from spectral data and X-ray crystallographic analysis. Significant and selective in vitro cytotoxicity of 1 was found against bone (HOS), breast (MCF), and ovarian (IA9) cancer cell lines. © 2002 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.
