A procedure for the design of non-linear compensators for automatic control systems is presented. Asymptotic stability in the large (ASIL) is chosen as the constraint condition. The Popov criterion forms the basis for ensuring ASIL. Two examples illustrate the design procedure. Although the approach is digital computer oriented, the design can be accomplished using a paper-and- pencil equivalent
