The curved WDM waveguide coupler is presented and analyzed in this paper. Compared with the traditional straight coupler, the curved coupler has the advantage of achieving a wider bandwidth. Waveguide theory and the beam propagation method (BPM) are employed to analyze the operation of the couplers. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
