Electromagnetic fields induced in a person due to devices radiating in the 10 Hz to 100 KHz range
Using dipole and image theory with prolate spheroid models, a qualitative evaluation is made of the electric and magnetic fields induced at selected points inside a person due to external electric and magnetic fields within the 10-Hz-100-kHz range. The authors consider the special case of a person sitting 60 cm from the center of a standard video display terminal. It is concluded that, for the frequency range considered, the magnetic field induced by the incident electric field can be ignored, whereas the internal electric field induced by the incident magnetic field could not be ignored. The evaluation is valid for any field radiating device if the amplitude and phase angles of the external fields are measured in accordance with the stated protocol.
