Quality-of-life outcomes for patients with severe CHF

We studied health status perceptions, functional status, quality of life, resource use, and survival times for 1,390 adult patients hospitalized for an acute exacerbation of severe congestive heart failure. Although survival rates were only 73% at 6 months and 62% at 1 year, survivors retained relatively good health status perceptions and functional status. Health status perceptions improved among survivors during the 6-month monitoring period that followed hospitalization.
