Heart failure is a very common condition that will be encountered across all ages and by family practitioners, internists, and specialists. Patients are frequently aware of the poor prognosis of this condition and will need a high level of support and monitoring if they are to receive the full benefits of our current understanding of the condition, and optimal therapy is to be prescribed. A surprising number of patients will respond to aggressive and diligent management of this condition with improved quality and duration of life.
