Cardiovascular health and disease in women: Thrombolytic therapy for women with acute myocardial infarction: Is there a gender gap?

Intravenous thrombolytic therapy has now been established as the standard approach for all eligible patients who present early with acute myocardial infarction. Relatively little clinical investigation however, has been addressed to the potential differences in utilization, outcome, and safety of thrombolytic therapy in women. This paper provides a review of available data for women receiving thrombolytic therapy.
