Use of the Outcome Questionnaire 45.2 with a university population
The Outcome Questionnaire 45.2 (OQ) was administered to a college student counseling and psychological services center sample of 435 students both before and after brief psychotherapeutic counseling. Initial ambivalence of the staff about the use of the instrument is described. Issues of implementation are discussed, and results reported including significant differences between pretreatment and postreatment scores on all subscales and the OQ total score. The amount of gain per session for the first ten sessions is presented and compared with other college and university data. This measured, positive change (symptom reduction) provides the administrator with data with which to garner support for the center and to respond to those skeptical of the efficacy of psychotherapeutic treatment. © 2006 by The Haworth Press, Inc.
