These researchers provide experimental evidence which shows that the influence of thiolate ligation on the oxidizing ability of the high-valent oxo-iron intermediate likely comes from the ability of the thiolate ligand to stabilize an oxygen radical structure (Scheme 1; L = S-; species B).
