This chapter provides an overview of the epidemiology, diagnosis, and treatment of the various tumors that arise in the anal canal and surrounding perianal skin. In particular, we focus on the evolution of treatment for squamous cell anal canal cancers, and discuss recent advances in combined modality therapy for this disease. We also highlight potential future developments aimed at improving tumor control rates while minimizing treatment-associated toxicities.
