Overview


Dr. Zaas's research includes clinical, translational and basic research investigation centered on the care of lung transplant patients. His basic research has focused on the host pathogen interactions of Pseudomonas pneumonia, which is a frequent post-transplant infection believed to contribute to the progression of bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome. He is involved in a wide range of clinical research investigations aimed at improving the practice of lung transplantation. Specific areas of interest include resource utilization and clinical outcomes after lung transplantation. Dr. Zaas is also actively involved in transplant policy through his involvement with the United Network for Organ Sharing as well as the HRSA Transplant Collaborative.
