I had the privilege of mentoring an URiM resident in a quality improvement project focused on enhancing resident education on pediatric gastrostomy tube management at Duke. Through a structured, evidence-based approach, we identified key learning gaps and developed an educational intervention to improve resident confidence and competence in this area. This project received high recognition and was honored with the prestigious Duke Fulkerson Award in 2024, highlighting our commitment to advancing medical education, patient care, and diversity in academic medicine.
