Community Service Organizer/Participant · 2021 Projects & Field Work Durham Central Park, Durham Central Park Volunteer monthly with Durham Central Park workdays since 2021 with the Duke EM team. In the past, we have had residents and nurses join when they are available.
Root Causes Driver · 2021 Community Outreach Duke Root Causes Involved monthly since Sept 2021. Root Causes is an incubator for students interested in innovative social drivers of health interventions through service, advocacy, education, and research. We organize around creating clinic-community partnerships, including running a home food delivery program for food insecure patients in partnership with Duke and Lincoln health providers and a student-network support program for rehoused community members with homelessness in Durham.
Faculty Advisor - Health Profession Recruitment and Exposure Program (HPREP) · 2014 Community Outreach Duke Health Profession Recruitment and Exposure Program (HPREP) is a program that aims to provide professional development and mentoring to historically underrepresented students interested in pursuing a career in health care. The Duke EM has hosted students in the Spring yearly to allow for opportunity to practice of EM procedures and learning about the specialty. I have been involved since joining the Duke EM faculty (2013 onward).
