Director, Preparing Future Faculty (PFF) Program - Preparing Future Faculty – Regional Partnerships · 2014 - 2026 Community Outreach Duke University Graduate School, Multiple partner campuses (see below) flag North Carolina Direct the Preparing Future Faculty (PFF) program, a long-standing community-engaged partnership connecting Duke doctoral students and postdoctoral scholars with faculty mentors across diverse higher-education institutions. Partner campuses include: • North Carolina Central University (NCCU) – HBCU partnership supporting mentored teaching, student engagement, and institutional mission exploration. • Meredith College – Liberal arts partnership emphasizing inclusive teaching and women’s college contexts. • Durham Technical Community College – Community college collaboration supporting teaching experience, site visits, and professional learning about student diversity and access. • William Peace University – Mentoring and classroom experience in a small private college setting. • Elon University – Exposure to teacher-scholar models and high-impact practices. • North Carolina State University (NCSU) – Cross-institutional professional development and mentoring dialogue. These partnerships provide structured, mentored teaching experiences, campus immersion, panel discussions with faculty and students, and reflective professional development for future academics.
Graduate School Representative & Program Collaborator - Duke–Durham Technical Community College Partnership · 2014 - 2026 Community Outreach Durham Technical Community College, Durham, North Carolina Collaborate with Durham Technical Community College to support graduate-student and postdoctoral teaching opportunities, academic-career exploration, and community-engaged learning. Key initiatives include: • Teaching placements for Duke PhD students and postdocs in Arts, Sciences & University Transfer programs. • Guest lecturing and classroom observation opportunities focused on inclusive teaching and student success in open-access environments. • Joint panels and workshops featuring Durham Tech faculty and leaders during PFF site visits. • Community conversations on transfer pathways, student support, and the role of community colleges in regional access to higher education. This partnership strengthens doctoral preparation for teaching-focused careers and deepens Duke’s engagement with local educational institutions.
